Used Geely Okavango Review: 7-Seater Value or Risk in the Philippines?

A used Geely Okavango is one of the stranger bargains in the Philippine market right now: a 7-seater with roughly the footprint of a Montero Sport, selling for the money most buyers budget for a small used MPV. The reason is simple. Chinese-brand depreciation is brutal in the first few years, and the first owner already paid for it.

But cheap space is only a bargain if the ownership story holds up. This review covers what you actually get, the honest risks around parts and resale, and what to check before you make an offer. We currently have two used Okavangos at our Parañaque lot — a 2021 Comfort AT listed at ₱660,000 (July 2026) and a 2022 AT listed at ₱690,000 (July 2026) — so this is written from the metal, not from a brochure.

What ₱700k buys you in an Okavango

Under ₱700,000, the Metro Manila used market is mostly small MPVs and subcompacts: Avanzas, Xpanders, Stargazers, and the odd high-mileage diesel SUV from the mid-2010s. Recent-year midsize 7-seaters — Montero Sport, Fortuner, Everest, MU-X — typically start around the ₱1-million mark and climb fast.

The Okavango breaks that pattern. It sold brand new in the low-to-mid ₱1-million range when it launched here in late 2020, and a 2021–2022 unit now sits in the ₱600k–₱700k band as a typical asking range. That is a three-to-four-year-old vehicle, still current-generation, for roughly half its original price.

In plain terms: for the price of a used subcompact sedan plus a little more, you get a genuinely large family hauler with a modern cabin. If your budget is hard-capped, it also belongs on the same shortlist as everything in our best used 7-seaters under ₱800k guide — see all Okavangos in stock to check current availability.

Space and features: where it beats pricier SUVs

The Okavango is a big unibody crossover, close in length and width to the ladder-frame diesels it undercuts. Seating is a 2-3-2 layout with a sliding second row, and the third row is genuinely usable by average-height adults on shorter trips — not just a kids-only bench. Fold everything flat and the cargo bay swallows province-run luggage easily.

Because it is a crossover rather than a body-on-frame truck, the unladen ride is more settled and car-like than a typical Montero Sport or Everest, which matters on NCR concrete. If you are cross-shopping the segment favourite anyway, read our used Montero Sport buying guide for the other side of that comparison.

The segment benchmark: 2023 Mitsubishi Montero Sport GLS 2.4D 2WD AT — listed at ₱1,250,000 (July 2026). Nearly double the Okavango money.

Equipment is the other surprise. Depending on variant and year, used units carry a large touchscreen, automatic climate control, LED lighting, and a reversing or 360-degree camera — kit that similarly priced Japanese rivals of the same age often skip. The trade-off: no diesel torque, and Philippine-market units are front-wheel drive, so this is a highway-and-city machine, not an off-roader.

The honest risks: parts, service network, resale

Parts availability

Geely's Philippine dealer network has grown steadily since the brand's 2019 relaunch, but it is still smaller than Toyota's or Mitsubishi's. Consumables — filters, pads, fluids, belts — are generally easy. Body panels, lamps, and model-specific trim can require ordering, sometimes with lead times measured in weeks. Plan for that if the car will be your only vehicle.

Service network

Fewer service centres means longer travel for casa maintenance outside major cities, and independent shops are still building familiarity with the 48V system and the dual-clutch gearbox. If you live in Metro Manila this is a minor issue; in far provinces, check where your nearest Geely service point actually is before committing.

Resale value

The depreciation that makes the Okavango cheap to buy also works against you when selling. Expect it to shed value faster than a Fortuner or Montero Sport of the same age. That is fine if you keep the car five years or more; it stings if you flip vehicles every two years. Buy it as transport, not as a store of value.

Used Okavango price picture in 2026

As of July 2026, typical asking prices for used Okavangos in Metro Manila run roughly ₱600,000–₱900,000 depending on year, variant, and mileage — treat that as an estimate, not gospel. Here is how our own Okavango stock stacks up against the diesel 7-seaters at our lot:

2024 Nissan Terra 4x2 VE AT₱1,280,000TurbodieselLadder frame, 7 seats

The gap is ₱360,000–₱620,000 against comparable-age diesel SUVs. That difference pays for years of fuel and maintenance, or simply stays in your pocket. For the broader landscape, our best used SUVs under ₱1 million guide maps the whole segment.

Illustrative financing math: put 50% down on the ₱660,000 unit and finance ₱330,000 over 24 months at our lending partners' from-1.40% per month add-on rate, and the estimate is (₱330,000 + ₱330,000 × 1.40% × 24) ÷ 24 ≈ ₱18,370 per month, plus a one-time 6.95% chattel/processing fee on the amount financed. Final rate is subject to credit approval — details on our financing page.

What to inspect on the 1.5 turbo mild-hybrid

Philippine-market Okavangos pair a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system on most variants, driving the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Combined output is in the region of 190 hp — plenty for the body. On a used unit, focus your inspection here:

Tip: Test drive an Okavango in real stop-and-go traffic, not just on an open road. Dual-clutch gearboxes reveal wear between 5 and 20 km/h — the exact speeds a quick around-the-block drive skips. Ten minutes of crawling traffic tells you more than thirty minutes of highway.

FAQ: buying a used Geely Okavango

Is the Geely Okavango a good used car?

For the money, yes — with eyes open. A used Okavango gives you space and features that ladder-frame SUVs charge several hundred thousand pesos more for, because the first owner absorbed the steep early depreciation. The trade-offs are a smaller service network than Toyota or Mitsubishi and softer resale value. If you plan to keep the car for years rather than flip it, the value case is strong.

How much is a second hand Geely Okavango?

As of July 2026, typical asking prices for used Okavangos in Metro Manila run roughly ₱600,000 to ₱900,000 depending on year, variant, and mileage — treat that as an estimate, not a rule. At our Parañaque lot we currently have a 2021 Okavango Comfort AT listed at ₱660,000 and a 2022 Okavango AT listed at ₱690,000 (July 2026).

Are Geely parts hard to find in the Philippines?

Harder than Toyota or Mitsubishi parts, but the situation is workable. Consumables like filters, brake pads, and belts are generally available through Geely dealers and a growing number of parts sellers. Body panels and model-specific parts may need to be ordered, sometimes with a lead time of weeks. Budget a little patience for collision repairs and stick to preventive maintenance so you rarely need anything unusual.

How is the Okavango's fuel consumption?

Expect figures typical of a small turbo petrol engine pulling a large body. Owners commonly report roughly 6 to 9 km/L in heavy city traffic and low double digits on the highway, with the 48V mild-hybrid system helping mainly in stop-and-go driving. It will not match a diesel Montero Sport or MU-X on long provincial runs, so factor fuel into your total cost if you drive far daily.

Both Okavangos are at the lot now, and seven-seaters at this price rarely sit long. Bring your checklist, crawl through some traffic on the test drive, and make your sealed offer.
